With a one-time PIN (OTP), the driver only hands over the parcel once the recipient gives a unique 6-digit code. This way you know the parcel reaches the right person. OTP only works if it has been agreed in your contract, which also states the price. Not in your contract? Contact your Customer Success Manager.
How does it work for your recipient?
- Your recipient receives the PIN by email as soon as the parcel has been sorted.
- Shortly before delivery, the PIN is also sent by text message, even if SMS alerts is switched off.
- The driver asks for the PIN at the door and then hands over the parcel.
Include a valid email address and mobile number for the recipient with every shipment. Your recipient cannot change the address themselves; you can do this in the Shipping Portal.
PIN lost? Our customer service cannot resend the PIN, but the driver can do so at the door. Someone in the household with the PIN can also accept the parcel.
How to switch on OTP
- Log in to the Shipping Portal.
- Go to Settings and click Features Management.
- Switch on One-time PIN (OTP). The change is saved immediately.
Rather not do it yourself? Ask Tech Support at tech.support@trunkrs.nl to switch it on.
You only see Features Management as an Owner or Admin in your main organisation. The setting applies to all new shipments, including those of the organisations below yours.
Only for a single shipment? When creating the shipment, switch on Require strict proof of delivery under Feature codes. Via the API, use requireProofOfDelivery.
When does the driver not hand over the parcel?
- Does the recipient give no PIN or the wrong PIN? Then the driver does not hand over the parcel. This counts as a delivery attempt; after 2 failed attempts the parcel is returned to you.
- The driver does not leave a parcel with a PIN with the neighbours or leave it behind.
